What is this?
A group set up by 7C Alliance to allow IT contractors to suggest and plan how and where to meet up in London on a social, professional or an IT industry basis.
What’s the purpose of LITCAM?
To organise the best way for IT contractors, who have come together online through LinkedIn, Xing or some other online business or social network, to meet each other in person as well as other people important to them for IT contract work or enjoying the best from the IT contracting lifestyle that London has to offer. LITCAM uses a discussion list that allows contractors to suggest to the group about meetups they would like in London – including who they would like to meet, where in London and when, as well as what form they would like the meetup to take.
What form can 7C’s Contractor Alliance meetups take?
A Contractor Alliance Meetup (CAM) can take any one of the following forms:
- Strictly social: an event where friends of IT Contractors and work colleagues are invited along (such as a few drinks after work or a barbecue) to just meet and enjoy socialising.
- Informal: an event where friends of IT Contractors and work colleagues are invited along (such as a few drinks after work or a barbecue), however some shop talk and swapping of contacts (i.e. networking!) may take place.
- Semi-formal: a night where IT contractors can meet IT contract recruiters and other IT contacts, including possible end-clients, to chat about opportunities for work in their area
- Formal: A seminar or meeting (possibly sponsored by a company) where a meeting or conference room is booked and topics of interest are presented by speakers. Industry or contractor market networking opportunities are possible before or after such meetups, as well as Q & A on topic or topics in question.
What ones are happening in London right now?
7C Alliance coordinates either an informal or semi-formal Contractor Alliance meetup every second Thursday of the month at a pub in Central London, but any registered member of the LITCAM list is able to suggest or promote other meetups to the group.
How do I register for the LITCAM List and attend LITCAMs?
To be able to suggest CAMs in London – as well as come along to them – then select London IT Contractor Alliance Meetups on the form from the 7C Alliance Contact page and submit this along with your contact details and a brief summary of your profile in the IT contract market or industry, as well as indicating whether your interest is to suggest CAMs, attend them or both.
